#23 Is this really the end? Or just the beginning....

Wow I have actually finished what I started a little bit late but I really finished it.

Learning 2.0 has shown me a lot of different types of things that can be done on the internet that I didn't think I would ever be able to do. I will be going back to some of these sites and have a go at doing more.

Some of my posts have been short and not as interesting as some of my workmates but I am pleased that I made the effort and I know that this knowledge will help me at work and at play.
#22 Audiobooks (or "The end is in sight")

I have not listen to an audio book but I know a lot of patrons do including my parents. The amount of titles on the World Ebook Fair site is impressive and I think that there is definitely ways to use these in the library. We are already lending IPod audio books but by using this site or others similar the library could increase the amount of loans in this area without the expence or maintenence of audio books.
#21 Podcasts Smodcasts

After looking around the podcast sites I finally decided to add Classic Mysteries at Podcast Alley to my Bloglines. These sites could be fun and I think that the library could use them in training and promoting the library.

#18 Web based Apps: They're not just for desktops

I am not sure what to write so I am just going to try and type this and then send it to my blog killing two birds with one stone. winkAs you can see I have tried some of the tools that are available.

smileYa it worked.

It worked but I had to wait till I got to work to confirm my login so this is out of order.

#20 You too can You Tube

I am trying to rush through the last couple of steps and so I picked a short video to save and I think babies in the bath are fun to watch. I don't know how this will help Libraries at the moment but I will think about it later.
#19 Discovering Web 2.0 tools

I chose to look around Google maps because I have been there before and I am running out of time. This site is interesting because you can see what it is like in other areas of the world. My husband loves this site to look at his favorite fishing holes or just browsing different areas. My only complaint is there is no date for when these maps where updated (some are a couple of years old) This site could be useful as a reference tool. I will be coming back to explore some of the other sites when I have finished this journey.
#17 Play around with PBWiki

Well I added my blog to the list and I had a quick look at the othe favorite pages.
#16 So whats in a Wiki

I wasn't sure that Wikis had a use in the library except for sharing ideas within the library about a specific project but after looking at the examples of Wikis I can see that having a Wiki with access to the public we could improve our service by asking them for ideas on subject headings, information sources within the web and general ways to improve the service we provide. Using a wiki for this is simple for most people to use.

#15 On Library 2.0 & Web 2.0

I think that the look and use of Libraries is changing faster than the average person realises. This means that we all have to have an open mind to change. To keep ahead of these changes Libraries will have to have on going training and they need to have the resources to update their systems. While I can see these things happening now and in the future I hope that I can learn to help the public with finding the information in all the different formates that will be available in the future. I can also see a need for making this available in the most basic forms so people of all ages and ablilities will be able to use the information which Libraries have access to.
#14 Getting not-so-technical with Technorati

I have looked at this site and found that there are 2225 results in the block posts search and 1025 results in the tag search and only 825 results in the block directory search. This means that like all searches you can get different results depending on how you search. This site looks interesting and I will go back and have a more leisurely look around after I have finished all the 23 steps in Learning 2.0

#13 Tagging, Folksonomies & Social Bookmarking in Del.icio.us

Well I looked around this site and can see the benefits of this if you have a lots of popular websites and need to access them easily and often. Then using tagging to keep them sorted into a simple list of tags should help you find them. Because I don't use the internet that often puting popular sites in the favorites folder is enough for now but if I get more involved with the internet I will try using del.icio.us and tagging.

#12 Roll your own search engine with Rollyo

Well I have added Rollyo to my blog and I added two sites to my searchbox roll. The instructions were quite easy to follow by swaping between the sites. I don't think that I will use this very often but you never know.

#7 Blog about technology

I am supposed to think about technology today and I realize that there is so much I still have to learn and how much more the children know than I do. My daughter rang me to tell me about my 6 year old granddaughter who put a password on her computer so that when she went to use it she could not get in until my granddaughter came home from school.

I think that this is amazing because even though I can put a password on my computer if I wanted to it would take me a while to remember how to do it and then I would be using trial and error until I found the right place to add a password. This is mainly because it is not something I need to do very often.

The important thing about technology today is you can always learn something new but you have to keep using it and updating your knowledge because unlike riding a bike, technology is something that is constantly changing and you can forget how to do even the simple things like adding a password.

#6 Mashups

I decided to make a calender page after a lot of thought because November is a big birthday month with my granddaughter and future daughter in law on the same day and my daughter all in the same week. I liked the teddy bear with his present and though he is out of focus I think he looks cute

lifelong learning 2.0 discovery

I think for this learning course the easiest thing in the 71/2 habits is getting a toolbox started and the hardest is viewing problems as challenges.

The toolbox will have a computer with internet access, access to books and a list of people to help if needed.

Overcoming problems is never easy seeing them as challengers to be faced is quite daunting it is to easy just to say its to hard and give up. I will try to be more positive in the future starting with this course.
Hi this is my first entry I will have to
